39Then he ordered them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed them. Then he broke the loaves in pieces and kept giving them to his disciples to set before the people.

everything they had done. Then he took them away with him privately to a city called Bethsaida.Matt 14:13; Mark 6:30
11But the crowds found out about this and followed him. He welcomed them and began to speak to them about the kingdom of God and to heal those who needed healing.

12As the day was drawing to a close, the twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away to the neighboring villages and farms so they can rest and get some food, for we are here in a deserted place.”Matt 14:15; Mark 6:35; John 6:1, 5

13But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.”

They replied, “We have nothing more than five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all these people.”

14Now there were about 5,000 men. So he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty.” 15They did this and got all of them seated. 16Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed them. Then he broke the loaves in pieces and kept giving them to the disciples to pass on to the crowd. 17All of them ate and were filled. When they collected the leftover pieces, there were twelve baskets.

After this, Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or Tiberias).Matt 14:15; Mark 6:35; Luke 9:10, 12
2A large crowd kept following him because they had seen the signs that he was performing on the sick. 3But Jesus went up on a hillside and sat down there with his disciples.

worth of bread is not enough for each of them to get a little.”Num 11:21-22

8One of his disciples, Andrew, who was Simon Peter's brother, said to him, 9“There's a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish. But what are they among so many people?”2Kings 4:43

10Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was plenty of grass in that place. So the men sat down, numbering about 5,000.

11Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were seated. He also distributed

the fish, as much as they wanted.
12When they were completely satisfied, he told his disciples, “Collect the pieces that are left over so that nothing is lost.” 13So they collected them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
